Lucile’s Book Club
Grades 3 – 5
6:30 – 7:15 p.m.
First Wednesday of every month
Main Library – Lower Level Story Time Room
Lucile’s Book Club focuses on the social and developmental needs of elementary school children, while providing a fun environment to expand their book horizons. Finally, a book club just for us!
We will read one of two books presented that have a similar theme. Chose one or both books depending on your level of interest.
A simple three star rating system will be used to determine how we liked the books we read.
One star = I read this book and that’s all I have to say OR I did not finish this book because it did not hold my interest.
Two stars = I liked this book.
Three stars = I really liked this book, and would read more just like it or more by this author.
Trivia activities will help us discuss the book as a group in an engaging way, and allow us to better understand key plot elements that make up the story. After our trivia sessions, we will have a chance to change the amount of stars we awarded to the book or leave our original star rating as it stands.
After trivia, we will have a craft or activity that ties in with the books. This will allow us to have a freeform discussion of the book we read, books we want to read, or other things going on in our daily lives. We all know the best part of book club is hanging out with our friends.
After our craft or activity, we will discuss the next month’s book choices and leave with one or both books.
We hope to see you there! New faces are always welcome.
Extra books are kept on the display by the gazebo on the Children’s Floor at Main.
